The job catalog is your job management center, complete with job names, statuses, sites, and more in a single location.
Expand and organize your jobs as your company grows.
In this video, we'll learn how to add and assign jobs individually and change job statuses after importing and assigning jobs to employees in bulk.
Let's get started.
From the left menu, select People, Job catalog.
Here, you'll see the jobs you've already created and assigned.
Create a job to expand your job catalog.
Enter a unique job name.
Select the job function and levels from the dropdown menus.
Remember to select a unique job function for each job you create.
Enter a job description specific to the job you are adding, including expected responsibilities and skills.
Fill in the other employee fields related to the custom job attributes you created.
And that's it.
Just click Add.
You can manage jobs individually or in bulk from the Actions dropdown menu.
You can change job statuses to Draft, Active, or Inactive.
If a job is no longer relevant to your company, delete it or edit jobs.
Just remember that jobs you change that are assigned to people or connected to positions may need to be modified.
Assign active jobs individually from the employee profile.
Or, automate job assignments upon hiring through a new hire flow.

Before you begin
- Map your organization’s jobs with job descriptions, functions, and levels to get to know the state of your talent. To learn more, see Map and import job data.
- Import your existing job catalog via the import template. To learn more, see Map and import job data.
How to add jobs to the job catalog
- From the left menu, select People > Job catalog.
- After your initial job catalog import, click + Add job to create new jobs. If you’re setting up your job catalog without an import, click Create job.
- Enter a unique Job name.
- Select the Job function and Job levels from the dropdown menus, then click Apply.
Tip: It is recommended to select a unique job function for each job you create.
- Enter a Job description specific to the job you are adding, including expected responsibilities and skills.
- Fill in the other employee fields related to the job attributes you added. To learn more, see Set up job attributes.
- Click Add.
How to manage jobs in the catalog
- Select a job or multiple jobs, then from the Actions dropdown menu, select:
- Change status > Draft.
Draft jobs are not assigned to employees yet and can only be assigned once marked as Active.
- Change status > Active.
This activates a job that can be assigned to an employee.
- Change status > Inactive.
This deactivates a job from being assigned to an employee but is still available to be changed to active and assigned to an employee in the future. Employees currently assigned to the job will remain assigned.
Jobs without assigned employees can be deleted from the catalog.
Note: If the positions you are trying to change are assigned to people or connected to positions, you may only be able to perform partial actions.
- Change status > Draft.
- Use the search icon to search specific content in the job catalog.
- Use the column picker to select specific fields to appear in the catalog table.
- Click the download icon to download the job catalog table.
- Click the three-dot menu, then select Export benchmarking data.
FYI: This is only available to customers with benchmarking data in partnership with Mercer. To learn more, see Download compensation benchmarking data.
- Click Filters to select specific statuses, functions, and levels to view in the catalog.
- Click Switch to advanced filters to select conditions to narrow the catalog view, then click Apply.
- Use Group by to group the rows by attribute. For example, group by Status to collapse and filter out Draft jobs and focus on Active jobs only.
