Learn how to view the status and history of your own tasks and People’s tasks using the Task Activity log.

Creating, sending, and completing tasks is a great way to ensure that you, your colleagues, and company employees are on top of their to-do lists. The task Activity log combines relevant task information, like the status and the task trigger history in one easy-to-read log beside the task.

Key benefits of having the ability to clearly view the actions and schedule of a task in a Task Activity log include:

  • Optimization of HR automation flows and processes
  • Transparency behind the status of outstanding tasks 
  • Accountability of all those involved in the task
  • Smarter actions, such as reassigning after repeatedly nudging an assignee

Before you begin

At the top of the Details panel is the status e.g., Complete/ Incomplete, followed by the title of the task. All actions are listed in chronological order in the Activity section. Depending on the action taken, an entry can support the following elements:

  • The action
  • Whether the action was triggered manually or automatically
  • Date and time the action was taken/scheduled 
  • What event led to the action?
  • Who performed the action?
  • On whom was the action performed?

How an Admin views the Task Activity log for employees

As an admin, you can quickly view the status of any employee and the tasks assigned to them using the Task Activity log:

  1. From the left menu, select Tasks > Manage tasks.
  2. Filter tasks using the fields above the table; e.g., choose “Onboarding” in the task list field to see a list of all onboarding tasks.
  3. Click on the row of the desired task.
    A panel will appear to the right, revealing a record of all actions related to the task. Scroll up and down the panel to see all details.
  4. Click on the three-dot menu to take additional actions to the task, such as Mark as complete, Mark as Incomplete, Nudge, Reassign, and Cancel.
  5. Click X to close the panel.

How to view your Task Activity log

The most challenging tasks are often the ones we must complete ourselves. In the Activity log, you can see a record of all actions related to your tasks including those that are incomplete, overdue, or have been given a nudge by your manager.

  1. From the left menu, select Tasks > My tasks.
  2. Filter tasks using the fields above the table.
  3. Click on the row of the desired task.
    A panel will appear to the right revealing a record of all actions related to the task. Scroll up and down the panel to see all details.
  4. Click on the three-dot menu to take additional actions to the task, such as Mark as complete and Mark as Incomplete.
  5. Click X to close the panel.
