To rehire a former employee back to the company, Admins can rehire an employee through People section with all information intact.

When you terminate an employee, there's no need to delete employee information from the system. The employee's Lifecycle status is labeled as Terminated and you'll still be able to view the employee's information after termination and have it on-hand to rehire them at a later time. 

How to rehire a terminated employee

  1. From the left menu, select People.
  2. Click Directory.
  3. From the  Lifecycle dropdown menu, select Terminated, then click Apply.
  4. Mark the checkbox(es) of the employee(s) you want to rehire.
  5. From the Actions dropdown menu, select Change status, and click Rehire.
  6. From the dropdown list, select your new hire template, then click Start.
    You'll be taken through the New Hire process, where the employee’s details are pre-filled from previous employment.

Note: An employee will need a new start date, occurring after the termination date. If an employee’s new start date is in the future, their Lifecycle status will be set as Hired automatically changes to Employed on their start date. If the employee’s new start date is in the past, their Lifecycle status will be set as Employed. On the employee profile, a previous start and termination dates are stored in the Lifecycle status table within the Lifecycle tab.

Why can't I see Rehire as an option in the Actions dropdown list in the Directory?

Access to these capabilities is managed by your company's Admin. If you don't have access and believe you should, reach out to your Admin.

How will rehiring an employee affect an employee's Lifecycle status?

Rehiring an employee will update an employee’s start date to reflect the newest start date. The old information will be maintained in the Lifecycle status table in the Secret section. Additionally, Lifecycle status changes from Terminated to Hired if they have a future start date, and Employed if they have a start date in the past.

What if I accidentally terminated an employee? Can I undo this termination or do I need to rehire them?

If you want to undo an accidental termination, don't rehire. Instead, go to the Lifecycle table on the employee card and delete the termination.
