Whether you are going on vacation, taking a sick day or using any other type of time off, if you're planning to take a break from work you'll need to request time off.

So, let's go over how to make a request.

You’ve been working hard, and now it’s time for a break. Before you pack your bags, let’s take a look at how to request time off.

The most convenient way to request time off is straight from the home page. All you have to do is click Request time off.

Select a Policy, such as work from home, sick leave, and more. In this example, we’ll select Vacation.

We only want to take the morning off. Bob will show the forecasted remaining balance after this request goes through, as you see here. There’s no need to wonder how much time we have left.

And that’s it, when finished, click Submit.

You can also access time off from the left menu, just select Time and then My time off.

As you can see here, each time off policy which has been assigned to you by your employer, will be listed here. Click to expand to see the details of the policy, such as days taken and your current balance.

The Requests tab will show you the current status of all your requests.

Thank you for tuning in to hear about Requesting time off. See you next time!

Where can I see my pending time off requests?
After you’ve made a time off request it will appear in My time off at the top of the Requests tab, with the status Pending.

When will approved time off requests be deducted from my balance?
As soon as your request is approved it will be removed from your time off balance for that time off policy which you can view in the time off activity log.

If the current Time Off cycle is 12/25/2019 - 01/24/2020, and today it is 01/05/2020, a request for 2 days on 01/16/2020 - 01/17/2020 will show as 2 days booked and will be deducted from the current balance.

How can I view my team’s time off calendar?
If you have permissions, you can view your team’s time off calendar in People’s time off. From the left menu select Time > People’s time off.  For full details see View the company time off calendar.

Can I change or cancel my time off requests?
If you’ve had a change of plans you can easily change or cancel your time off request. From the left menu select Time > My time off and click the Requests tab to view each of your time off requests. Click the three dot menu to the right of a request, select Edit or Cancel Request, make the change and click Confirm

Note: If you change the dates or time period of your request, it will be resent to your approver for re-approval.

When will i see my approved time off in my Google calendar?
Your time off will be added to your Google calendar within 24 hours of the request being approved.

Can I change part of a time off request to use a different policy?
If the time off policy allows Request override, you can make a new request for all or part of the same time period using a different policy, and when it is approved your balances will be adjusted accordingly.

If you request five days of vacation from December 2 to December 6, when the request is approved five days will be deducted from your vacation balance, as expected.

If you are then sick on December 3 and 4 you can make an additional request for two sick days, which will override the vacation time off.

When the new request is approved two days will automatically be added back to your vacation balance - i.e. only three days will be deducted as vacation - while two days will be deducted from your sick leave balance.

The two overlapping time off periods requested will be shown one on top of the other in the time off calendar.
