Review and use attrition indicators

Bob can help you predict when an employee might leave the company, which gives you time to make important decisions. Bob’s attrition indicators provide HR leaders with at-a-glance insights to proactively identify potential employee attrition and boost retention.

Note: Access to this capability is managed by your company's HR admin. If you do not have access and believe you should, reach out to them.

Get the most out of Bob

An employee’s attrition risk is viewed as a bar at the top of their employee profile. When you click on the bar, you’ll be able to see a breakdown of the employee’s status in different attrition factors to enable you to make data-driven talent decisions in mitigating potential employee attrition. 

How to review and understand attrition indicators

The Attrition Indicator bar can be found in each employee’s profile (according to permissions) and reflects their cumulative indicators.

  1. From the left menu, select People > Directory.
  2. Click the employee name to enter their profile.
  3. In the summary section, click the Attrition Indicator bar to see the breakdown of the indicators.

Attrition Risk Statuses

Each indicator is tagged with one of the following statuses. Keep in mind the dynamic nature of these indicators as indicator data may change in accordance with organizational and personal changes.

  • Low risk: the status of this indicator for the employee statistically decreases the likelihood of attrition

  • Some risk: the employee’s indicator status does not statistically decrease the likelihood of attrition.

  • At risk: the status of an indicator for the employee statistically increases the likelihood of attrition

  • N/A: there was no relevant employee data found for this indicator

Attrition Risk Indicators: Categories and types

The Attrition Indicators are composed of the following categories and types:

Personal Info

  • Age: employees that are currently at the age of 35 or more are at low attrition risk

  • Children: employees with children are at low attrition risk

Manager

  • Tenure: employees with a manager who has been in the company for more than two (2) years are at a lower risk of attrition

  • Recently changed: a manager change in the past 180 days increases the risk for employee attrition

Team

  • Team size: employees in small teams (less than five (5) employees) reporting to the same manager are at greater risk of attrition

  • Recent team voluntary attrition: employees in teams with a high attrition rate in the past 180 days are at greater risk of attrition

Position and Seniority

  • Employees with the same title: employees who share the same title with up to four (4) other employees are at a lower risk of attrition

  • Manages others: employees with direct reports are at a lower risk of attrition

  • Direct reports: employees who manage large teams are at a lower risk of attrition

  • Seniority percentile: employees who have been at the company longest are at a lower risk of attrition

Career Development

  • Time in the current position: employees who have the same position for more than four (4) years are at risk of attrition

  • Time with current salary: employees with no salary increase for more than two and a half (2.5) years are at risk of attrition

Time Off

  • Recent requests: employees with more than five (5) requests in the past 90 days are at greater risk of attrition.
    Note: The number of taken days in each request will not affect the attrition risk.

How to review the organization’s overall state of attrition risk

To get a holistic picture of the statuses for all employees, you may also create a report via the Directory. Create a summary report for the risk statuses via the Directory. 617ba48bd6013

  1. Click the column picker on the top right of the people table.
  2. In the column picker's search bar, search for the following indicators and click them to add as columns:
    • Number of ‘Low risk’ indicators

    • Number of “Some risk’ indicators

    • Number of ‘At risk’ indicators

  3. To save the view, click the Save icon at the top right of the table.
  4. To download the report, click the Download icon at the top right of the table. Select whether to download as an .xlsx or .csv file type.
